Fitness and Beauty Magazine
I just want to vent a little about a recent article in "Fitness and Beauty Magazine" This magazine if pretty much the authority on the Chinese Fitness Industry. Recently they published an article on the "studio" concept and how it is the future of Fitness for the 21st century. First of all they didn't give any credit to Pilates for popularizing the "studio" concept. If it weren't for Pilates we would all be exercising in these impersonal Yoga and Fitness Studios. The second thing that ticked me off was that they interviewed 5 "experts" on the "studio" concept and what obstacles there were for development in the Chinese market. Unfortunately, not one of these "experts" had a successful studio. One of them taught Pilates out of his house in the evening after work, but that was as close as they got to a studio expert. The rest were so called industry experts but they were also major advertisers. I think you are beginning to see the connection. You might say; "Yes, but this is very common in China". As a reply I would contend that we shouldn't assume common means acceptable.
