AFEEX HK 2009

I had a great time at AFEEX in HK this year. If you are on FACEBOOK you can see a lot more picture that I took. Especially of the Pole Dancing Instructors. If that isn't a good enough reason to join Facebook, I am not sure what is.
I met some great presenters as well including: Lisa westlake, Bill Sonnemaker, William Sakula, Susan Wood and a lot more!

Peak Pilates

This maybe a potential game changer for Pilates in Asia because spinning has a big following. Lets hope it brings down the cost of Pilates equipment in China.

Spin Fitness (Mad Dogg Athletics Inc.), which created the Spinning program and line ofSpinner bikes, announced Thursday it has acquired Peak Pilates.

Spin Fitness says that it hopes the addition of Peak Pilates will affect its global distribution channel of more than 35,000 facilities the same way the Spinning program has affected group exercise. John Baudhuin, CEO of Spin Fitness, said in a statement from the company that Spin Fitness approached Peak Pilates because of its programs, professionals and products.

“We share a passion for providing best-in-class equipment and education,” Baudhuin said. “We view their revolutionary MVe (maximum versatility exercise) program as an unmatched group exercise solution that is fun, challenging and gets results. It enhances member retention while meeting demand for equipment-based Pilates programming. With Peak’s expertise in classical Pilates programs and products, we see unlimited opportunity to expand in the fitness and studio markets.”

Studio Course in HK

I just returned from the Polestar Pilates Studio 3 course in HK taught by Dawnna Wayburne. I have to say that there is still a lot for me to learn about Pilates. See some pictures below.

Dawnna still in good posture at the end of a long course.

Mirko gets some reciprocal scapular work on the combo chair.

Mirko never poses for pictures, he just smiles all the time.
